Burçak is a Dutch-Turkish artist who blends East and West into a bold, genre-defying sound. Born in the small town of Hengelo in the Netherlands, he grew up immersed in both Turkish and Western musical traditions. Starting with drums and guitar lessons at age 12, Burçak soon found his voice—literally—through singing.
His early musical journey took shape in the pop/rock band Velvet Monk, which he co-founded. Over four energetic years, the band won competitions, rocked festival stages, and built a loyal following before parting ways. That turning point led Burçak to explore a more personal path.
In 2011, he launched his solo career, fusing oriental influences with modern pop to create a vibrant, uplifting crossover sound. After years of writing, performing, and refining his style, he signed with Sony Music. A string of EPs and a tour through Turkey followed.
Then in 2018 came a defining moment: the release of Divas on the Dance Floor!—a bold, glittering anthem that doubled as his public coming out. The track sparked major media attention and culminated in a show-stopping performance at Amsterdam Pride’s closing party on Dam Square. The visibility came at a personal cost, prompting Burçak to take time away to recharge.
Now, after a period of reflection and renewal, Burçak is back—stronger, more authentic, and more unapologetically himself than ever.
