Cacao Mental are a unique musical project within the Italian scene, born from the meeting of ancestral Latin American rhythms and contemporary electronic allure. Their sound blends cumbia, psychedelia, urban electronics, and tribal influences, creating a sonic landscape that constantly oscillates between jungle and metropolis.
The project took shape in 2014 in Milan, when Peruvian singer Kit Ramos and producer and multi-instrumentalist Stefano Iascone began writing cumbias after a long creative night. From that encounter emerged a vision that reinterprets South American traditions through modern filters, hypnotic grooves, and cinematic arrangements.
The lineup later expanded with guitarist Marco Pampaluna, helping define the distinctive style critics have dubbed “Spaghetti Cumbia.” Cacao Mental are especially known for their live shows, where concerts become intense digital tribal ceremonies, blurring the line between ritual and club culture.
Their discography reflects constant exploration, with releases such as Para Extrañas Criaturas and Reproducción, where Amazonian spirit meets urban aesthetics and psychedelic tension. This journey has grown alongside La Tempesta Sur, the label’s branch dedicated to Latin American and hybrid sounds.
In 2026, new material will be released via La Tempesta Sur, anticipated by the single “Rumi Runa,” created with Peru’s Olaya Sound System, confirming an ever-closer dialogue with the contemporary Latin American scene.
