When Cadence Barnett began to write her own songs after years of absorbing the musical world around her, she was told by her then-boyfriend that her music was “too weird.” But after her debut EP Throwing Words Away, she became enthralled by the adventure of creating music. Now, Cadence finds her strength as a songwriter in trusting her instincts and out-of-the box ideas, seen in her stylistically-opposing singles “Hang Around” and “Thrift Store.” Drawing influences from indie rock, folk, jazz, and musical theatre, she is always trying to experiment with the boundaries of pop music, blending them with her own style to create something fresh and genuine. Cadence is excited to share her newest EP The Bright Side of Bad Habits that explores the good, the bad, the weird, the ugly, and the beautiful found in growing up. She invites listeners to look through her lens of life, to find meaning in every mistake, and to walk forward into something new.
