“I tried to augment the silence and syncopate our horizons” proclaims Singer songwriter Callum James.
A dimly lit cellar turned into a home studio in Leeds. A beat up acoustic from the 70’s, a second hand Tascam tape machine and a tabby cat. All the ingredients Callum James used whilst making his forthcoming EP.
Inspired by 70’s folk troubadours the ghost of John Martyn looms large on this project. James fumbles over hypnotic finger picked lines, bombastic bass fills and scatty drums.
Deserting any previous delusions of grandeur, the Leeds native took a very minimalist approach whilst creating his upcoming EP. Cutting ties with the outside world, he solely wrote, produced and mixed this record. “It’s truly an extension of myself, I’m very apprehensive to show this side of myself.
The new music is solely rooted in the grass roots music scene of Yorkshire and everything I create is a testament to them”.
