A revolving door of tunesmiths and chaotic neutrals, Calvin Pineda and The Antacids make anti-folk-[ish] for: the quiet kids at the parkour gym; the front-sitters at the guest lit lecture; ex-Mormons; the unexpectedly cool dads of your normal-seeming friends; Daniel Johnston's sticky, cantankerous ghost; and for Mantis, in Germany. Sometimes it's a solo project -- generally, it's with whomever is around. Current roster includes Sam Rehorst (viola), Miriam Kagan-Dubroff (sax and bax vox), Max Meissner (drums), Lydia Stauffer (omnichord and keys), West Watman (bass guitar) among others. Their most recent album is Taylor Swift's favorite: she calls Calvin twice a day to beg them to produce for her. Calvin is getting a little annoyed by it, actually. Calvin may soon have to block her number. "My work," as Thomas Ligotti says, "is NOT YET DONE."
