Calypse is the electronic music project by Maura and Shana, Italian DJs and producers. In 2016, the two meet at a party in Rome and start making music together. United by the firm belief in the power that music has to bring people together, they form Calypse, a new identity where Shana’s love for hip-hop and house music meets Maura’s passion for deep minimal techno. Influenced by the house music of the 70s’ and 80s’ and with by a profound knowledge of electronic music, the Italian duo’s sound is energetic and innovative.
In 2017, Joseph Capriati acknowledges the girls’ talent and plays “Love 2 Dance (Calypse Remix)” at the WMC in Miami.
In the following years, they sign with big labels, such as the legendary Nervous Records, Lapsus Music, Circus Recording, and Flashmob Records. In 2021, their track “Cafè Sonido” was released on Raw Thentic Music, and it was generally appreciated, especially by The Martinez Brothers who play it often during their sets.
