Hi there! My name is Cameron Ash and I am a Fingerstyle Guitarist.

I remember when I got my first guitar which was when I was 7 years old. It was Xmas time and I ripped open my present and pulled it ever so carefully out of the guitar case. I tried to play it and couldn't play a single note. I sat there all Christmas evening trying to play something and came up with...nothing. I knew I needed lessons so I got myself a tutor!

I was with my tutor till I was about 10 years old and guitar became very boring for me. All I was learning was chords and how to strum. Its only now that I realise that I was bored because what I was learning was too easy! I was miles ahead of the other students in the classes and wasn't making progress any time soon.

It was only when I was 17 years old that I picked the guitar back up again and discovered fingerstyle YouTube channels with the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:08WRjJPbPqSEOkFuc99ymW" data-name="Eddie van der Meer">Eddie van der Meer</a> and <a href="spotify:artist:1rM7GiyPW7mPqDTtLfXRoZ" data-name="Peter Gergely">Peter Gergely</a>. I thought these guys were absolute legends! But there was one problem. I didn't like steel string. I still don't really like the feel of them. I have always preferred the warm sound of a classical guitar and always will.

I bought my first proper beginner classical guitar which is a Yamaha C40. I am still using that guitar today! I told myself that I will not buy a better guitar until I am a MUCH better player and can play at least 10 fingerstyle pieces perfectly.
