My songwriting journey really began when I started teaching high school math in 2016! I would take musical parodies of popular songs and spin the lyrics to math-related topics to help make math more memorable for my students. During the 2020 COVID quarantine, I became more serious with music and worked on improving at guitar/piano and singing/playing YouTube covers of popular songs. During that summer of 2020 is when I made it my goal to start more serious songwriting. I remember casually telling a friend in October of 2020, "It would be cool when things start to open back up to go to an open mic to sing a song." And I thankfully I made it happen! In February of 2021, I went to my first open mic and sang 3 songs! Since that time, I started doing music gigs in May of 2021 and things have only gone uphill since then - I now play a few music gigs per month on the weekends and during the summers when I'm not teaching. What started as a small hobby and some funny math tunes has become one of my biggest passions that I love sharing with others. 2020 was a rough year but sometimes a really difficult situation - though very hard in the moment - can ...with the right mindset and right amount of perseverance/patience… change trajectories and unfold into one of the most positive silver linings of your life. Thanks so much for listening!
