A former member of Australian psych-rock band <a href="spotify:artist:4skJp5OKvcc9eKokiuhi2s">Pond</a> and the touring bassist for <a href="spotify:artist:5INjqkS1o8h1imAzPqGZBb">Tame Impala</a>, Cameron Avery's solo career went in a notably different musical direction. Inspired by the timeless romance of mid-20th century singers like <a href="spotify:artist:1Mxqyy3pSjf8kZZL4QVxS0">Frank Sinatra</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:49e4v89VmlDcFCMyDv9wQ9">Dean Martin</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:1bgyxtWjZwA5PQlDsvs9b8">Sarah Vaughan</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:0iOVhN3tnSvgDbcg25JoJb">Etta James</a>, Avery crafted witty, lushly arranged songs about falling in and out of love. Originally from Western Australia, Avery was the lead singer of the Growls and played drums for <a href="spotify:artist:1FyulP4HDEpJ1YjAz9xxmY">Abbe May</a> before becoming <a href="spotify:artist:4skJp5OKvcc9eKokiuhi2s">Pond</a>'s drummer. He joined <a href="spotify:artist:5INjqkS1o8h1imAzPqGZBb">Tame Impala</a> in 2013, all the while working on his own music. When <a href="spotify:artist:5INjqkS1o8h1imAzPqGZBb">Tame Impala</a> took a break after the release of Currents, Avery recorded his debut album in Los Angeles. The results were Ripe Dreams, Pipe Dreams, which <a href="spotify:search:label%3A%22Anti-%22">Anti-</a> released in March 2017. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
