For nearly two decades, McGill has quietly carved out a place for his unsettling and darkly romantic songs. With lyrics that read like travelogues of strange encounters, McGill’s songs are a confluence of storytelling, dreamscapes, and overheard conversations. His albums range from the Jon Brion-influenced pop of Stories Of The Knife And The Back (2004) to the troubadour musings of Street Ballads & Murderesques (2006).
