Modern day renaissance man Canvas The God is the epitome of everything art. A jack-of-all-trades, Canvas is a singer, rapper, songwriter, producer, photographer, painter, and dancer. Armed with unique urban style, Canvas shows how easy it is to combine fashion, music, and comedy into well constructed bops. Wordplay, metaphors and puns are the ingredients that make up a playful Canvas track.
Canvas was born Khiry LaShawn Haley-Collins in 1990. Raised in East St. Louis, Illinois and singing gospel in church, Canvas also began writing raps with his college roomate during his college years. A few years after graduating college, Canvas moved to Chicago, Illinois in December 2014. In Chicago, he met the love of his life whom he engaged. His fiancé passed away in December 2016, which left Canvas lost. He began embracing his creativity at a higher level and began producing his own beats. He is a new resident of Dallas, Texas.
Once known as Da Uppity Negro, Canvas The God chose his new persona to reflect the versatility and unrivaled talent he possesses. His debut album, A Story of Organized Chaos, is a melting pot of major events that have shaped Canvas The God into who he is today. Songs like “Skeptical” and “Iridescent Soul” show Canvas’s softer side, showing how he values love. Songs like “Mood” and “Black Bubblegum” show how Canvas has come to terms with his recent diagnosis of bipolar disorder, and songs like “Dracula” and “Fiji” show how Gemini’s really get down.
