Capitán Rocksteady y la Tripulación (CRYT) is a band formed in 2012 in Caldas, Antioquia, Colombia, by musicians with experience in the Ska scene of the Aburrá Valley. Their main goal is to revive the Jamaican roots of 1960s Ska, blending local influences while acknowledging the foundations that have shaped them as musicians.
The band’s diverse background is reflected in its members, who are actively involved in Latin and tropical music orchestras and are enthusiasts of Ska Jazz and Caribbean rhythms. This melting pot of influences allows CRYT to fuse styles without losing the essence of Ska, resulting in a unique sound they call Latin Ska Ensemble, a testament to the contributions and creativity of each member.
