Standing out with alternative music that blurs the boundaries between genres and countries, the project led by Colombian-German singer-songwriter Antonio García Hosie takes listeners by surprise. Spanish rock that evokes the sounds of Charly García and Spinetta dives into modern jazz atmospheres, borrowing Latin American rhythms in progressive arrangements. The lyrics invite multiple readings (or listens), with poetic and abstract lines that float between guitars and electronic sounds. Carambolo is a blend of elements that, while diverse, are far from random. Instead, it feels like a meticulous concoction that flows and unfolds in unexpected ways.
Carambolo plays live with two guitars (Óscar Mosquera and Felipe Suárez León), electric bass (Max Schroth), drums (Jakob Dinnebier), synthesizer, and vocals (Antonio García Hosie).
Born and raised in Colombia, Antonio began his studies in Bogotá and completed them in Mannheim, Germany. He grew up listening to argentine rock, classic rock, jazz, and trip-hop, among other genres that today represent his most significant influences. Being the son of Colombian actor Álvaro García, and having experimented with multiple instruments in his youth, Antonio has always understood music as a language spoken by musicians but comprehensible to all. A universal language. With Carambolo, his goal is to unite people from within, inviting listeners to reflect on themselves in order to flourish as a society.
