Cardiac Carboy is a band of amateur musicians and former members of the Adobe Skyscraper Sewer Workers Union (ASSWU). The formation of Cardiac Carboy was in part due to an ASSWU ceremony in which Willie-Harv Endo was asked to serenade newly treated water on its re-introduction to the city's main water system. Willie-Harv understood this to mean howling guitar tones through the pipes, though he would later learn he was meant to find a local band to play at the water treatment facility festival. He welded a pipe to his amplifier that connected to the main water supply line and was mostly unsuccessful in delivering sound to Adobe Skyscraper Water District patrons, only a few homes in the immediate vicinity of the water treatment facility could hear slight noises through kitchen sinks. However, the president of the water treatment facility, in a hot microphone incident was heard berating Willie-Harv for his misunderstanding of his assignment, generating public empathy and demand to allow Willie-Harv to continue serenading through water pipes. Other members joined Willie-Harv simply to show support. For this reason, Cardiac Carboy is rarely heard outside of kitchen faucets or bathroom sinks. Their first album, Shadow Bodies was recorded as a preliminary rehearsal for the 1984 Freshwater Serenade, an event begrudgingly hosted by ASSWU.
