In the city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, dominated by guitars and grit, Carlo Capobianco emerged like a synth-drenched fever dream. As a neurodivergent, queer pop star in a city of indie rock, standing out isn’t a stylistic choice, it’s in his DNA. An advocate for fearless self-expression with an innate disregard for the systems that scapegoat individuality, he invites fans to shamelessly embrace themselves, leading by example. His debut album “Pray To You” (2023), produced and recorded at House of Wonders with Adam Fuhr, sounded more like something from 1980s Berlin than like anything else from Winnipeg, and the city noticed.
As Carlo prepares for his next release, he’s doubling down on his pop-star daydreams and showcasing his sharp, creative and out-the-box instinct once again with a fresh sound. He’s refined the raw, emotive storytelling of his debut, this time superimposing it over a hyperpop, industrial influenced take on glistening Hollywood glamour. A true pop star, Carlo has a gift for the art of Concept and is putting it on full display with this EP, digging deeper emotionally and setting his sights higher than ever before.
A shining showcase of this new sound is displayed on ‘Angel in Disguise’, produced by Michele ii Visser of Boniface.
