Carpet Waves are a four-piece band from Germany and have dedicated themselves to the curse of "deliberately bypassing the zeitgeist" to further develop their own rock style. Benny, Kai, André and Tim pull out musical stops from the late 80s, 90s and early 2000s to create their introverted sound world between atmospheric post-punk, alternative, dream pop and indie. As winners of a regionally well acknowledged professionalisation program, a few wishes have been fulfilled in the last few months: Gloomy live session, a new EP as well as accompanying music videos present the band on their next creative level.
The last EP "Darkness and Bright Thoughts" was financed by crowdfunding and enabled the band to get airplay on local big radio stations and genre-playlists and blogs for the first time. The songs, accompanied by the music video for the lead single "Bright Side of the Dawn", showed the band experimenting with a garagey style between indie rock and post-punk. Several headlining shows in the Düsseldorf area followed, as well as a support slot with the dark wave band She Past Away and a main stage show at the NCN Festival in Leipzig. With the new EP "Inner Weapons", the band has once again made their sound much more mature and grown-up, whereby the post-punk and wave scenes are taken up without losing their roots in alternative and indie.
