With a name like Cary The Dreamer, the multifaceted singer, songwriter, musician, producer and visionary truly lives up to his hype. Though his roots are in Newark, N.J., after making the move to South Florida at age five, Miami became the place where Cary Joseph found his passion for rap.
Early on, rap artists like Outkast, Biggie and Crucial Conflict inspired Cary to start rhyming himself, and by age 12 he had written his first song. But it was his transition to Tallahassee that really gave the clever lyricist his start.
At a crossroads between his faith and his love for grimy rap, Cary adopted the name Cary The Dreamer inspired by Joseph the Dreamer’s story in the Bible. From there he sought to merge his two passions by infusing his music with spiritual messages and good vibes.
Cary’s outreach and dedication to faith extends far beyond his powerful vocals. In addition, his passion for giving back to the community and less fortunate were put to action with the formation of several workshops to encourage people to discover their musical passions as well as a mentorship program for displaced youth.
Today, the dynamic musician draws inspiration from artists like Pastor Lamar Simmons and Elder John Harris. Cary has even had the opportunity to open up for renowned Gospel artists such as Canton Jones, Mali Music, Tye Tribbett, Kim Burrell, Todd Dulaney, Geoffrey Golden, Uncle Reece and John P. Kee.
