South GA raised, Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Casen Watson shines with his vivid imagery and emotionally charged lyrics. Born in Jesup GA in 1997, Watson grew up being influenced by songwriting greats like Johnny Cash, Otis Redding, Tom Petty, and Bob Dylan, before eventually discovering newer influences from Brandi Carlile, The Paper Kites, Jon Foreman, and John Mayer. The inspiration of these songwriting greats led to Casen writing his own lyrics that dove into deep, thoughtful places, evidenced by his debut single, "Oh Marie" - which leans heavily on the stylings of Petty with a touch of Ryan Adams. Casen's rich, baritone depth shines through in the ballad "Bluebird", written in the shadow of the death of a close friend. Otis, Mayer, and Dylan are ever-present in the lyrics and melody, which hones in on the longing for the sound of someone's voice you'll never hear again. There is something to be said for a true-to-his roots singer-songwriter, in a generation of ultra-poppy lyrics that sit on the surface. Whether looking for easy listening, road trip music, or just wanting to take a deep breath and feel what you need to feel, Casen Watson will not disappoint.
