Casey Kavanagh grew up in a small town in Minnesota. As a 3rd generation musician, music was a part of his soul from a very young age. As a child, while most of his friends were listening to AC/DC and Metallica, Casey was drawn towards the groove of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, the lyrics and melodies of James Taylor and Otis Redding, and the energy of James Brown and Maceo Parker. In 2011 Casey left the Minneapolis music scene and moved south to Springfield, Missouri, to start a family. While Casey is mostly known around the Ozarks for his shredding saxophone and piercing vocals with the award winning band Papa Green Shoes, he’s also a songwriter. In 2022, after quietly writing music for twenty years, Casey released Here I Am. This deeply personal, full-length album takes the listener on a journey through two decades of first loves, great loves, lost loves, and forbidden loves. It’s a simple, mostly acoustic album. It’s Casey in his rawest form, with just a mic and a piano or a guitar…and the occasional sax solo. In 2023 Casey followed up Here I Am with a companion album of mellow covers titled I'm Still Here. After completing the “Here” albums, Casey is now putting the mellow heartbreak songs behind him and is currently working on a new full band album. Whiskey Wednesday, If It’s Real, and the newest release, Even When It’s Rainin’, are the first 3 singles from the upcoming project.
