The music that Casper Caan makes is steeped in glorious contradictions: Huge-sounding and spare, electronic and wholly organic, persuasively extroverted and yet quietly reserved. All these qualities mark his 2024 debut album Last Chance, a strikingly ambitious collection of indie-influenced songs that exhibit a provocative range, retro-futuristic productions, and marvelously durable hooks.
Casper Caan's musical journey began with him writing songs for himself for years before finally deciding to assemble some vintagey gear well suited for recording and sonic experimentation. The NYC-based singer, songwriter, and producer has since been rolling out a series of notable singles and animated videos over the last few years to his growing audience. His debut single (and album title track), the bright beaming “Last Chance,” appeared in the massive video game FIFA22 by EA Sports and was remixed by Hot Chip. Caan has also released the Gorillaz-recalling “Rat Race,” the lush “How We Are Who We Are”, and the space-age piano-pop of “Keep This to Myself.” His debut album also includes “H.A.O.U,” a surf-guitar fist pumper that was remixed by Passion Pit. Having amassed 15 million streams and 100k shazams, his music has appeared on All New Indie, Summer Indie and Metropolis among other playlists. Combining animated stories with his inspiring songs, Caan’s music videos are eye-catching creations which have garnered rave reviews and a strong following in the animation communities.
