Cassel is a band with an identity crisis.
Beginning as the solo project of Yasmin de Laine in Adelaide in 2013, she relocated to Melbourne in 2017 and the project became a band.
The group’s sound is influenced by genres spanning from post-rock, to folk, to southern gothic blues, to emo. The amalgamation of these sounds became Cassel: mismatched misery with an accessibly pop-ish topping.
"Cassel is an explosive collection of songs housed in a laidback and melodic package. It mixes elements of pop and post-rock to create a vast sonic landscape that colors its curves between layers of reverb and cutting vocals." - divideandconquermusic.com
