Though occasionally listed as a four-member band (with the made-up Kid Lucci on vocals, Jeh Walker on bass, Drehke on keys and programming, and Doc Torchaos on drums), Cassettes Won't Listen is in actuality the one-man project of multi-instrumentalist and producer Jason Drake, creative director / owner of New York-based design studio & lifestyle brand, Daylight Curfew and brand manager for hip hop super group, Run The Jewels. His debut EP, the electronica-influenced indie rock Nobody's Moving, was released in 2005, and was followed shortly after by the instrumental lofi beat-focused Quiet Trial. Cassettes Won't Listen has done remixes for Dr. Octagon, Midlake, Mr. Lif, Morcheeba, amongst many others, but it wasn't until 2008 that his first physical EP, Small-Time Machine came out followed by 2009's instrumental Into The Hillside, 2011's Evinspacey, 2012's indie/folk Casa, and 2013's CWL. His first album in 10 years is currently slated for release in 2023.
