Cassis was formed in Perth , Western Australia in 2011 by vocalist Véronique Ramén and guitarist Jon Edwards. Initially an acoustic duo with roots in French speak-sing song, the band transitioned to electric with the addition of drummer Warren Hall, bassist Seb Davidson and keyboardist Dylan Hooper. Around 2020, Dylan Hooper moved overseas and was replaced with Tim Newhouse.
Their music draws on intimate, intentional influences, centred around Véronique’s distinctive speak-sing vocals that move between French and English. In February 2025, the band released their second studio album, "Riding on Clouds", followed by a suite of singles in late 2025 . Cassis will return to Sundown Studios in 2026 to record new material.
