Casual Americans is an indie-alt rock outfit from Athens, GA. The project was born out of the urge to make something that you genuinely like and gives you life. While a bit early to be considered a mid-life crisis band, the songs that comprise the forthcoming full-length self-titled album were written and recorded in the evenings while the kids were sleeping. This songwriting and recording process provided a surprising amount of focus and clarity - after all, you’ve really got to love something to work on it every night for a year and a half.
Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Justin Reynolds dug deep in an attempt to craft songs that toe the line of feeling timeless, but not overly retro. The project evokes shades of Beck, Spoon, and The Shins while reflecting the underlying influence of the classics like The Beatles and Pet Sounds-era Beach Boys. Is it dad rock? For sure. Is it also fun and surprising? Absolutely.
