Cathedral Ring came to life in 2012 as a post-rock two-piece project from the minds of Atlanta natives Christopher Harless (guitar, keys) and Matt Bankston (drums, keys). The following year saw the release of their debut full-length album Where Dark Matter Ends. Shortly thereafter, the writing and recording of their sophomore album, A Decade Alone on the Alps was well in progress.
Released on February 27th 2017, A Decade Alone On The Alps set a poignant tone for the narrative of the record. With tracks like “Northeastern Track Marks” and “Domesticated Wolves”, the album presents a masterful delineation of the human condition and of the self-imposed struggles we often create. The self-produced, 10 track LP mixed and mastered by Matt McClellan (Being as an Ocean, Capsize, Better Off) comes in under a much more somber representation, mixing borderline haunting arrangements with themed subtexts of depression, loneliness, dependency, and isolation.
