Cathy Rankin was born to entertain. Moving fans with her powerful vocals, this singer/songwriter proudly reps the girls while holding her own with the guys. And, in her case, it's not ordinary guys on her project, it's renowned rockers David Ellefson (Kings of Thrash, Megadeth), Ken Mary (Flotsam and Jetsam, Alice Cooper), and John Bronson. This stellar line-up is on her new single, Now You’ve Gone, a deeply personal song inspired by one of Cathy’s top influences, Neil Peart. It explores the experience of losing a loved one with the hope of seeing them again and carrying on their memory – something Cathy’s family experienced when her nephew, Christian, tragically lost his life at age 18. This moving tribute was written to connect with all those touched by loss.
Cathy performed for years in successful cover bands for thousands of audiences from Super Bowl to the Vegas Strip. While her influences are wide-ranging, her original work is rooted in classic rock woven with hints of blues, prog, metal, even country, taking listeners on a journey reminiscent of the iconic frontwomen who defined female rock, such as Nicks, Wilson and Benatar. "As I embark on this journey, I’m stripping away the fears to bare my soul. I knew I had to do this or I’d regret not trying. As Neil once said, 'From the point of ignition. To the final drive. The point of the journey is not to arrive.' I want to write songs that mean something. If I learn along the way, then it’s all worth it.”
