Cavalier King is the music project of Brooklyn based singer/songwriter and artist, Chris Taylor. Rubric Records published Taylor's first record, The Sun Revolutions, in 2006. In early 2012 he released a new EP, Star Alarm, working largely in collaboration with producer Scott Fritz at Stranded on a Planet Productions. After a few years working with Beyond Limits Group in Brooklyn and frequently releasing new songs, remixes and videos, Chris spent ten years away from music, but in 2023 has taken it up again and is working on new albums and singles to come!
The name Cavalier King comes from a seminal track on The Sun Revolutions album which tells the story of a young man having delusions of grandeur: he fantasizes that he is an extraordinary war hero, only to return to the mundane reality that he is merely an average suburban kid, lost in a wasteland of mediocrity. The third song on that same record, The Unprotected, discusses his yearning for more than suburban mediocrity and superficial pleasantries, for something vulnerable and real, even if there is a high cost.
