Since forming in Fredrikstad in 1989, CC Cowboys have established themselves as one of the most enduring and beloved institutions in Norwegian rock. Fronted by Magnus Grønneberg — known for his distinctive, intense voice and poetic lyrics — the band has shaped the country’s music scene for more than 35 years.
Their journey began in 1990 with the debut album Blodsbrødre, featuring classics such as “Vill, vakker og våt” and “Harry”. The album earned them the Spellemann Award for Best Newcomer and marked the beginning of a remarkable career. Over the years, the band has built an impressive discography that includes studio albums and live recordings like På Svalbard Uten Strøm and Med KORK i Kollen.
After a hiatus in the late 1990s, the band returned in 2003. Today, CC Cowboys consists of Magnus Grønneberg (guitar/vocals), Jørn Christensen (guitar), Per Vestaby (bass), Henrik Maarud (drums) and Eirik Tovsrud Knutsen (keyboards).
In 2025 the band celebrated their 35th anniversary with a festival summer and two sold-out concerts at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet. During this period they introduced their fourteenth studio album, Jeg tilstår, officially released on February 27, 2026. Produced by Thomas Gallatin, the album includes tracks such as “Alle nøkler har en lås” with Morten Abel and “Når det siste bladet faller” with Stein Torleif Bjella.
CC Cowboys remain true to their origins: strong songwriting, honest storytelling and a deep love for Norwegian-language rock.
