Born and raised on the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, Indian-Portuguese songstress Chae channels her multicultural roots into a distinct R&B sound.
Growing up in a deeply musical household, she absorbed her father’s Motown records and her mother’s endless cassette collection. By middle school, she had discovered Aaliyah, Brandy, Sade, and Janet Jackson through the rebellious gateway of Limewire — cementing a lifelong love for R&B.
In 2022, Chae released her debut EP Letters I’ll Never Write, a minimalist pop-R&B memoir of love, loss, heartbreak, and coming of age. The project, praised by Wonderland and FADER, spotlighted her striking vocal dexterity and emotive storytelling.
Drawing from her Indian heritage and the African-Arab influences of her Omani upbringing, Chae continues to carve her own lane, reviving the bounce and lyricism of 2000s R&B while shaping it into something unmistakably her own.
