Chai Lenin is a Singaporean-Indian artist who has made a home out of many places in the world. Multi-hyphenate philosopher, scientist, psychologist, and social-scientist, Chai Lenin aims to defy the boundaries of knowledge as we know it to study the human experience. Through her craft, she brings influences of imagining a global, diaspora sound, fusing tradition and modernity in a sonic landscape unveiling the psyche. She is deeply influenced by the power of Carnatic music to render compositions that are diverse, inclusive and accessible. Through her music, she hopes to tell the stories of our colliding subjectivities, wherein the cultural-subconscious landscape of the Self serves as a starting point to expressing the nuances of what it means to be human. Using Indian Carnatic music as a point of departure and a global narrative of varied identity facets, Chai Lenin hopes to create by re-interpreting and re-defining the boundaries we’ve known with music and the stories we tell through it.
