Chameleonize are a 5-piece SoulProg group based in New York City. Originally formed in Oneonta, New York in 2015, a group of student musicians who once supported one another in all of their individual projects decided to come together and see what they could create as a group. After a few jam sessions and casual practices, it didn’t take long for them to vibe as a cohesive unit and discover their natural sound.
Some of their influences include Snarky Puppy, Stevie Wonder, and Hiatus Kaiyote. Combining complex musical sequences with attractive pop melodies and hip-hop grooves, they exhibit a unique twist on contemporary music. Currently, they are releasing singles such as their newest, Day Job to prepare for a debut EP in the spring of 2020. In the meantime, they meet in a small Brooklyn practice space once a week to continue writing, making demos, and meeting in preparation for shows as they expand their reach across borders.
Band members include Gabi Feliciano on vocals and alto saxophone, Mo LaMastro and Brian Gipson on guitar, Jake Navarro on drums, and Mikey Rotunno on bass.
"They play some incredible progressive acid-hip-hop- jazz-funk-fusion, each with their own styles."
"Lush vocals over chocolatey thick harmonies with a saxophone cooler than a penguin sippin' a slushie... sheesh, can you go wrong?"
