"Aking Minamahal" is a 4-track music album creatively echoing the emotions and reflecting the innocence of 15-year-old singer-songwriter Charleen Ong. Charleen, a member of the internationally acclaimed and socially relevant Filipino world-music band Talahib People’s Music, embarks on a heartfelt creative venture with a series of EPs. This is the first of a two-part EP series.
Charleen Ong, who has been performing since she was only 8 years old, is not only a powerful singer but also a prolific songwriter. Her first ukulele, guitar, piano, and violin were given to her as birthday gifts. She started playing pop and classic songs when she was in elementary school, and she grew up influenced by her mom to listen to a variety of genres and musical styles, such as dream pop, new wave, British rock, traditional pop, jazz, alternative, folk and indie.
The songs in the "Aking Minamahal" EP are written and performed by Charleen Ong, recorded, mixed, and mastered on analog tape at the Mix Machine Analog studios with music producer Marco de Leon, and released by Analog Machine Records in cooperation with Musika Publiko. The digital release is distributed in partnership with Believe Music Philippines. The powerful portraits and album visuals are by Erick Cusi. Artist management is handled by Musika Publiko coordinator Jaime Hernandez.
