Detroit's Charles "Gator" Moore was a member of the Transitions, a trio assembled by New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe's Michael Bivins. The group, who combined throwback and contemporary approaches to R&B, were signed to Bivins' Uptown-supported, Universal-distributed Biv 10 label and released an album, Back in da Days, in 2001. Despite some solid songwriting and performances -- the group also featured up-and-comer Balewa Muhammad -- and productions from Naughty by Nature's Kay Gee, the album didn't fare well commercially. The Transitions subsequently split, and Moore eventually established himself as a solo performer. A stirring and faithful cover of Sam Cooke's "A Change Is Gonna Come" appeared on the soundtrack for Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls. In January 2015, Moore released a sweet midtempo single, "Makin' It Feel," on the Jus So Scandalous label. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
