Charley No Face draw on a wide range of influences reminiscent of Black Sabbath, The Stooges, and early 70’s prog rock. Delivering a powerful blend of heavy guitar, haunting melodies, and psychedelic explorations, they are notorious for their high energy performances and face melting guitar solos.
Nick Wulforst (Crook and The Bluff) first joined forces with Brad Larson (Majestic 12) after becoming neighbors in Portland, Oregon. Both obsessed with vintage gear, they began writing songs together striving to create new breed of grunge inspired psych-rock. They enlisted guitarist Stephen Cameron and drummer Tim Abel, formerly of the Minneapolis punk outfit <a href="spotify:artist:7odgGP4ZmNLKsAzYEl7A0z" data-name="Superheater">Superheater</a>, who joined the band immediately after moving to Oregon. Traction has gained quickly for the quartet in their first year playing notable venues in Portland and recording their first full length album.
Their debut LP The Green Man, released April 10, 2020, is a great representation of their progressive song writing capabilities and memorable vocal hooks. Both Gatekeeper and Endless Dream are straight up, no-nonsense rock songs that explore themes of living in a post-utopian digital age. Eerie space echo vocals and indulgent guitar arrangements make for two memorable first singles. Prism and Master of Light are prime examples of the band’s capability of delving into heavier drone metal tones psych guitar explorations.
