He’s been around for quite a while – back in 1970 he was the musical leader of a rock band called „Truss“.
Charly McLion was also member of the first band in Aachen who had a single back in the sixties. The name of this band was „Cave Dwellers“.
Charly McLion played all kinds of music – Rock, Folk, Blues (touring with Blues-Legend „Champion Jack Dupree“), R&B, Soul, New Wave.
In the late eighties he met Robert Schröder who had already produced a few electronic LPs. Schröder (who named himself „Dreamstar“) and Charly McLion formed the Electronic-Duo „Double Fantasy“. The only CD they made was called „Universal Ave.“. It was a tremendous success. Listeners of the german cult radio programm for electronic music „Schwingungen“ (Vibrations) elected „Universal Ave.“ in 1994 as second best CD of all times in the category eM. Jean Michel Jarre came in first.
In the fall of 2000 Charly McLion found some time and inspiration to put his solo-CD „Nature of the Universe“ together. This production is superb. You can hear the influences on his musical life during more than thirty years. Rich in melodies, textures and sounds it brings back to the listener the unique guitar playing of Charly McLion. The music is groovy, relaxing and refreshing. Music to feel well while listening to it.
After the worldwide recognition for this CD he continued to work on several musical projects shifting more in the direction of production and composing.
