Chase Risinger has been writing songs since the tender age of 13.
Though the childlike joy of music-writing remains constant, his skillset and influences have transformed again and again, evidenced in his three albums (released under the name Johnny Dioxide), where swing, country, jazz manouche, surf, and psych rock abound, as well as in his current bands, Pendulum Hearts and Sugar Purr.
His latest song “Waiting” is a stripped down ballad. Written during the lockdown, the lyrics shine a confessional light on the sobering feeling of stagnation and that unshakable yearning for an opportunity that just might never come; where all one can do is have patience and — like that younger self who wrote love songs in his bedroom — keep at it.
