Chase Ward is a Toronto-based musician and composer who blends deep grooves, rich harmonies, and raw storytelling. Originally from Victoria, BC, he grew up surrounded by music and later honed his craft under artists like Mark Kelso, Larnell Lewis, and Hilario Duran.
In addition to playing with groups like The West Coast Soul Collective and The Simon Williams Sextet, Ward launched his trio. Their music blends the Jazz tradition while borrowing rhythmic elements from Latin, Afro-Cuban and New Orleans culture. Their shows are all about energy, connection, and conversation.
Ward’s debut album, Senary, captures the emotional journey from the West Coast to Toronto, rooted in the jazz tradition and the pulse of Latin and Funk music. Senary is a vivid, rhythm-driven collection built to move both heart and body, featuring special guests like percussionist Joaquin Nunez Hidalgo and vibraphonist Kayla Hoshizaki
