Chasing the Sky is a pop-rock sextuplet from Grand Rapids, Michigan heard in film, television, and sports events worldwide (Glee, Chevrolet and Superbowl XLV, and more). They specialize in powerpop anthems of emotional, societal, and personal revolution charged with electrifying optimism and relentless hope in the face of a world that eats hope for breakfast. CTS also writes a lot of cutesie pop songs about their dead friends. Honestly, someone should ask if they're okay.
The band's 2022 debut full-length, "King of the Losing Side" is a grandiose emotional rock opera about the violence of spiritual, emotional, and physical abuse from sources both personal and societal. It's about firebrand conviction to radical empathy. It's a painful odyssey through emotional rebirth in search of truth, personal sovereignty, and just maybe a little peace at the end of the struggle.
By contrast, CTS's 2010 debut "The Empty Chair - EP" was something of a trial run. Could the band place powerpop anthems with the heart of a lovestruck schoolgirl alongside wailing existential fear of death's long-reaching tendrils? The answer may surprise you.
CTS was founded by Brenden Stark and Tim Alexander (of midwest pop-punk cult-favorite Middlefield) and includes transgender journalist Kaya Jean Vanantwerpen (bass) as primary lyricist.
Former members who appear across the discography include Cassidy Rae Warner and Trevor Andrew Atkinson (of The Juno Blacklist), Dana Mika, and Ryan Dekkinga.
