Chayna Ashley was born in Harlem, New York but raised in The Bronx, NY. She is of African American and Afro-Jamaican descent. Chayna’s early life was surrounded by her love of basketball. She played Varsity for Manhattan Center all four years of high school but ultimately her love of hip hop would take over. Music has always been connected to Chayna, her father is a successful reggae musician, her maternal uncle was a Rhythm & Blues vocalist for many years, and a few of her cousins had a short-lived battle-rapping career.

At age 9, Chayna began writing her own raps but it wasn’t until her college years that she linked up with the battle rapper Nuborn, who introduced her to an up & coming battle league entitled ‘Queen of the Ring’ that C’Ash was born. Now Chayna is taking the music world by storm! She has stepped away from the battle scene to focus primarily on her music. She dropped her first EP “What The Talk Bout” in the Summer of 2020 that included a favorite from the project “Female Rappers”. The song highlighted the state of female rap and lack of diversity. The song hit so hard it garnered the attention of SO SO DEF CEO & Hip Hop Legend Jermaine Dupri. Chayna also was the winner of Hot 97’s Top Tier Freestyle Competition presented by Loaded Lux.

Some of Chayna’s earlier works include, opening up for rapper Remy Ma, headlining Snoop Dogg’s ‘Gladiator School’ for the BET Hip Hop Awards.
