Checkpoint Charley is the ongoing Melodic Rock/Pop brainchild of songwriting duo Kevin Packard and Jesse Anderegg. Influences include Crowded House, Fountains of Wayne, Queen, & The Beatles.
Their urgent, upbeat sonic signature resonates an omni-genre pulse behind a wall of powerful hooks, thick, layered vocal harmonies, and multi-dimensional instrumentation.
With a flair for musical theatrics and a current pop sensibility, Checkpoint Charley's album "Pomp, Twaddle, and Bombast (Songs 13-24)" forges the path forward that bands like Jellyfish began. Echoing elements of Queen, Muse, and Duran Duran with a completely unique identity, the album and accompanying EP "Great Jedi Mind Trick" were produced in Nashville with an all-star cast of guest players.
Featuring award-winning co-producer Jay Tooke at the helm, contributing performances by Jon Schmidt (The Piano Guys,) Tyson Leslie (Vixen,) Jim Riley (Rascal Flatts,) Ian Fowles (The Aquabats,) Chris Nix (Jonathan Davis and the Ministry,) Kyshana Lowe Bradshaw (The Lowe Family,) Smith Curry (Nashville Session Player,) and Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem,) are intricately interwoven through the band's spectacular sonic signature.
"We don´t get to hear that many classy Power Pop albums like this one these days; we´re talking top quality from start to finish! These releases shout out longevity all the way to the next decade. Bravo!" -Kaj Roth, Melodic.net
