Having played in numerous bands since the late 70s, London-born sisters Lyndsay and Chrissie Hammond went to work as music researchers before signing up with the Albert Productions Company in their adopted homeland of Australia. Under the wing of Vanda And Young they began to work on original material with session musicians who had previously backed Maggie Bell in Midnight Flyer. The resulting 1981 album, Rock & Roll Women, was largely ignored for its music content as press attention focused on the fact that they were, indeed, ‘Rock N’ Roll Women’. Their fate as musicians sealed, not least by their own choice of title, and unable to shake off the public perception of them, the band splintered. Lyndsay later formed Rockhouse but their album remained unreleased.
