Our name, as a band, is inspired by a god from Slavic mythology, Chernobog, which we learned about from the work of eight authors collected in the book: "New Researches of the Religion and Mythology of the Pagan Slavs". According to the Christian missionary and historian Helmold von Bozow, who authored the Chronica Slavorum, which was published in about the 12th century, Chernobog was worshipped by the Slavic tribes of the Vendi and Polabi in present-day East Germany. He is depicted as a fierce warrior with a terrifying appearance and always wearing black armor and a magic spear in his hand, with which, wherever he strikes, he sows fear and anguish. He fights eternally with the most holy Belobog, god of good and bringer of light.
