Chiildren is an industrial terror duo, from Los Angeles, who primarily pulls inspiration from black metal, melodramatic film scores, and splatter-punk fiction. The duo is made up of oddly synced Chris Zeischegg and Chad Fjerstad, who are both authors of transgressive fiction, and both known for their years spent performing in the adult film industry under respective aliases.
Zeischegg and Fjerstad met on a porno set in 2010. The two aimed to start a black metal band, but struggled to find a drummer. In place, Zeischegg learned how to program drums. To complement the more electronic direction, Fjerstad pushed to infuse a heavy amount of synthesized arpeggios and pads.
In 2012, Chiildren entered the studio with Chris Rakestraw and recorded their debut EP, "The Other People", which would see a release by Bit Riot Records. "The Other People" showcased scatter-brained electronic metal experimentalism. In 2015, Chiildren released their second EP, "The Circle Narrows", which was engineered by contemporary death metal guru Michael Keene, and featured a much more focused and polished sound, leaning strongly into sludge/doom territory. "The Circle Narrows" was released by Records Ad Nauseam. In 2018, Chiildren released a new music video and single, a cover of Rihanna's "Bitch Better Have My Money", and embarked on their first tour, a short run of west coast dates, before entering a hiatus.
