Toybox Rock or weird creative flex? The novelty rock duo ChikënFist was conceived in 2008 as a creative outlet for Vince Rostkowski and Dwight Evan Young. The premise was simple: make rock music without traditional rock instruments. Started with a mandolin and a trombone, the 'Fist now utilizes over fifty different instruments in a cacophony of sound that can vaguely be described as "music." Their influences include Flight of the Conchords, Tenacious D, Tally Hall, Kaizers Orchestra, Cojum Dip, Pomplamoose, Tom Waits, and various other pop media, like The Mighty Boosh or Cookie Monster. Over the years ChikënFist has released 2 EPs; Christmas of Want (2011) and Cookies for Dinner (2016). In 2020 they remastered Christmas of Want, finally releasing it digitally. They now have their eyes set to various projects in the future, which include some singles, more EPs, an album, and an operetta. ChikënFist is not your traditional band, and while that comes with the downside of releases being irregular, it also means that the 'Fist is here to stay. It's an open project that Vince and Dwight can return to at any point, so follow us here and on our social media pages to stay up-to-date with our latest news!
