'chitchat' is Nashville’s newest pop duo. After forming their first band together at the age of 15, Derek and Mark have been collaborating in music as a team for over the past 10 years. Derek (lead singer / songwriter / instrumentalist) and Mark (backing vocals / songwriter / instrumentalist) met as 9th grade classmates in the coastal town of Ocean Shores, WA. They immediately began writing music together, and performing under a local moniker. Shortly after their high school graduation, the duo’s success in music saw them traveling to Los Angeles, CA and Nashville, TN to perform for major industry professionals. Later settling in Nashville, TN, they continued writing and recording, spending years developing a vision for their debut project ‘chitchat.’
Over the last 3 songs, chitchat has already established a good connection with their fanbase, and their newest single “Sad Kids” is a strong next step for the pop duo. When compared to previous work, “Sad Kids”, has managed to further solidify chitchat’s own modern pop style - with a flavor that is completely different from anything heard so far. Sonically, it's an ode to mid 2000’s 'Pop Punk' & 'Emo' sounds, with riffs that will remind you of Blink-182. This new single continues the trend chitchat has set for themselves by touching on difficult topics disguised within an inviting musical landscape. With a melody that’s guaranteed to get stuck in your head, "Sad Kids" is the perfect 2021 anthem for ‘Emo’ music fans worldwide.
