Choam Nomsky is a solo electronic project from Nigel Braddock, founder and owner of Monkey Records.
Braddock studied classical piano from an early age in his native New Zealand and graduated with a Bachelor of Music in performance piano. After wandering the world for a few years he returned to NZ and started playing in bands, eventually setting up his own label to release music he was working on. As well as recording and producing albums for other artists, he started working as a live sound engineer, tour manager and dj playing at some of New Zealand's most prestigious festivals.
Now based in Berlin, Braddock has stopped signing new artists to his label and is focusing on his own music and collaborative projects.
Unlike his other solo project, Broad Oak, which is more of a downtempo nature, Choam Nomsky is aimed squarely at the dancefloor. “But more like a blissed out 3am winding down vibe rather than going hard,” explains Braddock. “I want to make the sort of tracks I like hearing in the middle of the night at some nice festival in the forest.”
