Choirboys are icons of Australian pub rock, born on Sydney’s Northern Beaches in 1978 and still rocking over four decades later. Led by Mark Gable with original members Lindsay Tebbutt (drums) and Ian Hulme (bass), joined by Brett Williams (guitar), they cut their teeth when live music was raw, loud, and unfiltered. Their 1987 anthem Run to Paradise became a national treasure, hitting the Australian Top 10 and even the U.S. Billboard charts. Other hits like Boys Will Be Boys, Never Gonna Die, and Struggle Town cemented their place alongside legends on Albert Productions’ roster with AC/DC and The Angels.

Famed for high-octane, humorous live shows, TheClothesLine.com.au praised Gable’s “incredible rock vocal” and the band’s mix of comical and earnest Aussie rock spirit. In 2023, they launched Run to Paradise: Great Australian Rock N Roll Stories—part rock gig, part behind-the-scenes confessional—sharing wild, hilarious, and often outrageous tales from the golden era of pub rock. Set to a soundtrack of AC/DC, Dragon, Screaming Jets, Deep Purple, Divinyls, and more, plus Choirboys’ own classics, it’s a raw celebration of the chaos, humour, and heart of Australian rock. Simply put—you don’t get much more Rock ‘n’ Roll than Choirboys.
