Unapologetic, Feel-good, indie-pop music from Glasgow. As featured on BBC Radio Scotland, E4’s Made in Chelsea, & Alternative Press.
Chris Greig & The Merchants are four pals with a shared love for shite patter, Tennents Lager, and Indie-Rock music.
The boys' very own blend of indie-rock and pop genres has influence stemming from the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:3Ayl7mCk0nScecqOzvNp6s" data-name="Jimmy Eat World">Jimmy Eat World</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6zlR5ttMfMNmwf2lecU9Cc" data-name="Sam Fender">Sam Fender</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:3mIj9lX2MWuHmhNCA7LSCW" data-name="The 1975">The 1975</a>.
The guys have spent the couple of years pre-pandemic prolifically gigging around the Scottish indie-rock scene, sharing the stage with the likes of <a href="spotify:artist:5YA1c6yVkPnflTLMfOgjzc" data-name="Vistas">Vistas</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:3VRqGLyj4cnRers46I0Yk4" data-name="SPINN">SPINN</a>, <a href="spotify:artist:6AGUQK1EWK6nvN4pLIDQDQ" data-name="The Mowgli's">The Mowgli's</a>, and <a href="spotify:artist:5NCiwADf8nWJexWvgSbVsV" data-name="Nick J.D. Hodgson">Nick J.D. Hodgson</a> (Ex-<a href="spotify:artist:0LbLWjaweRbO4FDKYlbfNt" data-name="Kaiser Chiefs">Kaiser Chiefs</a>) to name a few.
After a seemingly everlasting lockdown, the boys return strong with the latest addition to their indie-rock/pop discography, ‘Wish You Were Here' - a hard-hitting track with nods to The 1975 and McFly.
'Wish You Were Here' opens with a blasting drum beat followed immediately by a The 1975-esque, jangly guitar-led intro which quickly progresses into a more sombre 1st verse. The track details a feeling of loneliness, as felt by many over the last 18 months of isolation, and includes themes of mental health awareness throughout.
