2020 and 2025 Tūī Award Finalist CHRIS SANDERS is thrilled to announce he is commencing an FYC campaign at the 68th Grammys® in the Best Musical Theater Album category, for Hana the Glowworm with Auckland Philharmonia!
Hana the Glowworm is the largest original Children's Musical Theatre show ever produced in New Zealand. Research began in April 2022 at the Kawiti Caves in Northland’s Waiōmio Valley and has since involved hundreds of incredible people — from music producers and engineers to over 70 musicians, orchestral arrangers, an illustrator, a choreographer, a director, theatre technicians, costume makers, youth performers, and more.
Chris is so proud of his two daughters, Emerson (Hana) and Gabriella (Ruru), who were recording artists on the album alongside Kelly Lim Harris (Eel). Chris even snuck in a cameo as the mischievous Stoat!
The album was produced by kiwi icon and <a href="spotify:artist:1xGTzTskpMWOWFZUjSm7Ch" data-name="Th' Dudes">Th' Dudes</a> band member <a href="spotify:artist:5fAnmZUxCWniEsOcx7VmzT" data-name="Rikki Morris">Rikki Morris</a>
Prior to Hana the Glowworm, Chris has released close to 50 original songs, four of which have made it onto the Official Aotearoa Music Charts. He was also announced as a winner in the 2020 International Songwriting Competition for the song Mittens. He is also a recipient of the Australian School of Broadcasting Network (SBN) Funky Kids Radio Presidents Award for Kia Ora are Such Beautiful Words and winner of SBN Best Audio Story of the Decade Award with Okee Dokee Goatee.
Chris is currently working on the extended version of Hana the Glowworm.
