Chris Westlake is an American composer of electronic and orchestral music. His work can be heard across many genres. From the melodic and orchestral sci-fi of Star Trek: Lower Decks, to foreboding and emotional music for the Emmy-nominated Castle Rock.
His score for Castle Rock was described by The New York Times as “extra-lush. It’s another way this episode feels like a movie.” Rolling Stone described his music as “a tapestry of ominous noise - it’s communicating something about how the characters feel, rather than telling us what to feel.”
His early musical life was fed by a love of all things strummed. He spent his teenage years studying classical and flamenco guitar with Celino Romero and Sharon Isbin, head of the guitar department at Juilliard. He went on to study at USC’s Thornton School of Music, where he was asked by a friend to score a short film.
He is currently writing music for the third season of the animated hit series, Solar Opposites (Mike McMahan, Justin Roiland).
